And thanks to you and Kathy for the comments. One of the reason I decided to write about what's going on with Whit was because I wanted to put into words the kinds of thoughts that go through my head at such times, not because I think they're particularly unique. I don't at all. It's the fact that they're not unique, that it's OK to think think them about an animal or any living being--I've felt the loss of certain plants keenly, too. It seems like there's a lot written about the good times, and then all those pet eulogies, but not so much about this period. Maybe in some small way, this will help fill that gap.

Thank you for so eloquently putting into words those feelings that so many of us have experienced and yet were unable to describe through language.

I have been enjoying your blogs. You often speak clearly to my own feelings and experiences. This blog especially, as my friend just lost a 14 year old sister to our old dog, who we bred. This dog, Molly by name, had a seizure and stroke soon after her best buddy and constant human companion died. My friend (it was her husband that died) went through much the same thought process and also "wailed at the wall of Quality Life". Excellent phrase.
Looking forward to the next blog.
