More evidence that bird brains rock

Gimme one of those bird brains, please! Follow this link to an interesting study of pigeon behavior that proves that they’re subconsciously/innately/insert your favorite word for accepting or rejecting animal intelligence here able to think in logarithmic terms. If you’re one of those mathematically challenged folks like I am, you might ask, “Who cares?”  However, researchers speculate that the ability to think this way could enable living beings (including us) to prioritize the most important of the large amount of incoming stimuli that  routinely assault us. As anyone who has found themselves trapped in a traffic jam in an unfamiliar city knows, the ability to do this automatically is worth its weight in gold.  Let’s hear it for the birds!
